The federal government shutdown has now become the longest such stoppage ever, as it has entered its sixth week.
The shutdown costs the US economy an estimated $20 billion per week, has 1.2 million civil service workers either working without pay or furloughed, and has started to drastically impact the services critically needed by the nation's lower class.
I would imagine we're asking for all of the stuff that's going on; federal workers being suspended, plus they're working without getting paid, and people that are on welfare or get food stamps are not getting it.
Then I realized that the school kids are not getting food for the school.

I've been a Republican since I was old enough to vote in the year 2000; I am appalled at this administration, I'm appalled at the hypocrisy, the dishonesty, the manipulation, the deflection, the ego. I'm not buying this nonsense.
I fell for it one time in 2016. You fooled me once, shame on you. You fooled me twice, shame on me. Fool me every day. ...
Republicans of the United States; be ashamed, we caused this. It's your time to stand up and speak up now.

One year after Donald Trump's return to the presidency, both his approval rating and that of the Democratic Party are near all-time lows.
The midterm congressional elections are now one year away.
The polling advantage the Democratic Party had in 2017 was 11 points; however, this time around, it's only five points.
