Prince Andrew of the UK has been stripped of his "prince" title in connection with a high-profile sex scandal, linked to the Jeffrey Epstein case.

On Thursday, Buckingham Palace announced that Andrew, the younger brother of King Charles III, will be leaving his residence at the Royal Lodge in Windsor Park, London.

The monarch has "initiated a formal process" to remove his titles, and Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

The British monarch received support from the royal family, including the Prince of Wales, the heir apparent to the throne, when deciding to revoke Andrew's "prince" and Duke of York titles.

This decision was made due to what has been described as serious lapses in judgment during Andrew's association with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Andrew is said to have not objected to the monarch's decision to remove his titles and will now relocate from Windsor Park to Sandringham Estate, owned by the King.

In 2021, Andrew was sued in a US court by Virginia Giuffre, a sex victim exploited by Epstein.

Guiffre claimed she had been forced to have violent sex with the former prince more than once. The 42-year-old told the court that Andrew's “extreme and outrageous conduct” had inflicted permanent damage to her and “significant emotional and psychological distress and harm.”

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump is among those who spent a long time near Epstein.

Trump denies any wrongdoing despite his name being listed repeatedly on the files of the convicted sex offender who mysteriously died in prison.
