ICJ session on Gaza aid

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has ruled that Israel must not use starvation as a method of warfare and must ensure the delivery of essential aid to Gaza. In a statement at The Hague, ICJ President Yuji Iwasawa emphasized Israel's obligation to guarantee the basic survival needs of the civilian population in Gaza as part of its responsibilities as an occupying power. The world court specifically highlighted Israel’s duty to facilitate UN aid efforts, including those of UNRWA, which has been banned by Israel from operating in Gaza since January. The court's advisory opinion follows a request from the UN General Assembly after Israel imposed severe restrictions on humanitarian aid and contact with Israeli officials. In reaction, the Israeli ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, criticized the ICJ’s advisory opinion as “shameful. The ICJ ruling comes amid humanitarian challenges in Gaza where over two million Palestinians are grappling with extreme shortages of food, medical supplies, and essential services due to Israel’s blockade.

Israel Gaza truce violations

Despite the current ceasefire, the Israeli Occupation Forces persist in killing more Palestinians in Gaza. One Palestinian was killed by Israeli gunfire in Gaza City. Since the start of the ceasefire on October 10, more than 100 Palestinians have been gunned down by IOF soldiers. Meanwhile, 88 bodies have been discovered in the rubble and numerous bodies remain inaccessible to rescue teams. In accordance with the truce, 30 unidentified Palestinians bodies were returned, raising the total bodies received from the Israeli regime to 195. Meanwhile, the remains of two Israeli captives were returned to Israel increasing the returned Israeli bodies to 15. The Palestinian death toll now stands at 68,234 with 170,373 other injured.

'Iran not to negotiate under pressure'

Tehran will not resume negotiations unless Washington abandons its “maximum pressure” strategy and stops unreasonable demands. Abas Araghchi says Iran has always shown commitment to diplomatic solutions, but that doesn’t mean it will compromise the rights of the nation. The foreign minister emphasized that Iran has pursued diplomacy any time its national interests could be secured. He criticized the US for consistently undermining such efforts. Araghchi added that despite five rounds of talks this year, Iran was attacked during the negotiations, an assault that was backed by the United States. Iran’s top diplomat stressed that Iran is still a nation of peace and diplomacy.
