Iran’s Judiciary says Tehran’s Islamic Revolution Court has issued verdicts against two French nationals convicted of espionage and collaboration with Israeli intelligence services, following a months-long legal process.
According to the Judiciary’s statement, the two French citizens, identified as employees of the French intelligence service, were arrested in March 2023, on charges of spying for France, conspiring against national security, and cooperating with the Israeli intelligence apparatus.
Both defendants, the court said, had access to defense attorneys, official translators, and family contact throughout the proceedings.
The court held seven sessions during which prosecutors presented extensive evidence, including witness testimony, expert assessments, and the defendants’ own statements.
The final indictment spanned 715 pages, finding both defendants guilty on multiple counts.
The first defendant received a sentence of six years in prison for espionage on behalf of the French intelligence service, five years for conspiracy to act against Iran’s national security, and twenty years in exile for intelligence cooperation with the Israeli regime.
The second defendant was sentenced to ten years for espionage, five years for conspiracy, and seventeen years for assisting Israeli intelligence operations.
The verdicts are subject to appeal before Iran’s Supreme Court within 20 days.
