Islamic Jihad marks Al-Aqsa Flood anniversary, hails fighters’ 'unmatched bravery'

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement says its resistance fighters have courageously confronted the “murderous, criminal Israeli enemy,” which continues to wage a genocidal war across the besieged Gaza Strip.

In a statement marking the second anniversary of the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation, the resistance group hailed the “unmatched bravery, valor, and sacrifice” of its fighters during the October 7, 2023, operation.

"Two years ago, the Palestinian resistance carried out a blessed operation against enemy military positions along the [now-defunct] border fence east of Gaza."

"They captured numerous enemy soldiers and officers and engaged in close-range combat, during which they killed hundreds of enemy soldiers and captured dozens. Our resistance offered convoys of its best fighters as martyrs, wounded, and prisoners," the resistance group stated.

Israel has failed to achieve any of its goals despite launching a brutal aggression involving mass killings of tens of thousands of unarmed civilians in Gaza, it added.

“The so-called Gideon 2 operation, based on systematic destruction, mass killing, and psychological terrorism against our people, will only lead to more failure, defeat, and humiliation for the enemy,” Islamic Jihad said, referring to the second part of the regime's offensive in Gaza. 

The statement further noted that reckless efforts by the Zionist regime and its key Western backers aimed at eradicating the Palestinian people have all gone in vain.  

“The enemy bombed, besieged, and starved, carrying out one of the worst massacres in history — under the silent gaze of the watching world."

The resistance movement emphasized that Israel's offensive has not remained limited to the besieged Gaza Strip over the past two years.

"During this phase, the Palestinian resistance wrote one of the greatest battles against Zionist Nazism and oppression, in which the enemy committed all forms of killing, destruction, and displacement against our people — in blessed al-Quds, the occupied West Bank, and the Gaza Strip."

The Islamic Jihad chief roundly dismisses the Trump-Netanyahu Gaza plan as a scheme meant to perpetuate the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian nation.

The statement affirmed that all factions of the Palestinian resistance have prepared themselves for a long war of attrition.

"The resistance of our people, led by Saraya al-Quds and Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades, will continue as long as the occupation exists. We will spare no effort in fighting it. We have prepared ourselves for a long war of attrition that will not end until its complete removal."

Resistance groups hail Hamas’s ‘realistic’ stance, blast Trump’s biased ceasefire plan

Resistance movements voice strong support for Hamas’s response to a US-led ceasefire plan, while sharply criticizing the proposal as an instrument of war and a threat to Palestinian rights.

The statement held Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his far-right ruling coalition responsible for prolonging the genocidal war on Gaza in order to meet their political ends.

“Throughout two years of war, the resistance has sought to stop this war and alleviate the suffering of our people, showing maximum flexibility to reach an agreement, with the sole condition being an end to the war and the lifting of the siege. However, the Netanyahu regime has persisted in its aggression to serve the goals of its extremist coalition,” it said.

Islamic Jihad reiterated that Israel has found no way to break the spirit of the Palestinian people despite killing thousands of civilians, the majority of whom were children, women.  

Since Israel launched its genocidal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, over 76,000 Palestinians have been killed or gone missing.
