The Trump Organization has finalized a staggering $1-billion deal to construct a sprawling, “Central Park-inspired” project along the Saudi port city of Jeddah’s Red Sea coastline, signaling the deepening footprint of the US president’s family in the kingdom.

Named “Trump Plaza Jeddah,” this latest project marks the organization’s second major venture in the city, following last year’s unveiling of “Trump Tower Jeddah,” various news outlets reported on Monday.

The initiative is being carried out in partnership with London-based real estate firm Dar Global and promises a combination of “upscale residences, serviced apartments, exclusive townhouses, and state-of-the-art office spaces,” the company said.

At the heart of the design is a “green corridor” modeled after Manhattan’s Central Park, intended to anchor the residential and commercial areas, while importing a slice of New York City into Saudi Arabia, it added.

According to the firm, the project “brings the essence of Manhattan to Jeddah.”

The reports emerged as the Trump family’s ongoing attempts at expanding its presence in the West Asia region have sparked concerns among critics, who highlight the ethical implications of profiting from close ties with countries denounced by human rights bodies for human rights violations, including many severe cases.

Donald Trump maintains a widely reported and well-publicized relationship with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, whose actions began drawing global outrage after Riyadh’s unprecedented deadly attacks on Yemen that began in 2015.

The royal has also attracted far and wide condemnation for his self-admitted role in the 2018 assassination of Washington Post journalist and Saudi royal family critic Jamal Khashoggi.

Additionally, the kingdom has escalated its crackdown on its Shia Muslim minority under Salman, including, among other things, by rewriting its “terrorism” laws to target dissidents.

Despite such controversies, the Trump Organization has continued to emphasize its global real estate ambitions, with projects spanning Turkey, Canada, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Mexico, India, and the Philippines.

In a statement, Eric Trump, the company’s executive vice president, hailed “Trump Plaza Jeddah” as a “visionary destination” blending luxury living, world-class hospitality, and dynamic business spaces, casting the project as a symbol of prestige and modernity.

Dar Global CEO Ziad El Chaar, meanwhile, described the development as “one of the most ambitious undertakings in Saudi Arabia,” underlining its scale and opulence.
