Israeli forces have killed 40 Palestinians in Gaza since dawn, including 10 displaced people at the Nuseirat refugee camp and 15 in Gaza City.

The Health Ministry reported on Sunday that 379 others were wounded in Israel’s army onslaught over the past 24 hours in the war-ravaged territory.

In addition to victims of relentless Israeli strikes, the death toll from starvation is also rising.

Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis reported that an infant died from malnutrition and inadequate medical treatment.

He is among dozens of children who have died of malnutrition this year in Gaza, as Israel has intentionally restricted the entry of food and medical aid into the besieged territory.

Last week, Gaza’s health authorities reported that 440 people, including 147 children, had died of starvation or malnutrition since the Israeli regime launched its genocidal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023.

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) confirmed that, as of August 10, Gaza has been experiencing phase 5 famine.

Phase 5 famine exists in areas where at least one in five households experiences an extreme lack of food, with starvation leading to destitution, critical levels of acute malnutrition, and death.

The IPC has estimated that by the end of this year, 132,000 Gaza children will suffer from acute malnutrition. This number includes more than 41,000 severe cases of children at heightened risk of death.

Also, reports indicated that 10 displaced people, including several children and women, were killed during an Israeli airstrike on the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.

Constant Israeli bombardment has made it difficult for first responders to reach the rest of the injured in the area.

Civil defense and medical teams have not been able to reach the site of an Israeli drone attack in the Al-Nassr neighborhood due to heavy Israeli bombardment.

Israeli regime forces also attacked a family fleeing Gaza City, killing a 6-year-old girl and wounding three other children.

Muhammad Abu Salmiya, the director of al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, the largest medical complex in the Gaza Strip, said on Sunday that the Israeli regime has intensified its offensive in the area, with tanks approaching the vicinity of the hospital and blocking access to it.

According to Gaza health authorities, in addition to the thousands of displaced people taking refuge around the hospital, an estimated 159 patients are currently being treated there.

Across Gaza, Israeli forces are also destroying infrastructure, residential houses, buildings, and neighborhoods, making it difficult for medical teams to reach the injured and those trapped under rubble.

Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza has killed at least 66,005 people and wounded 168,162. Thousands more are believed to be buried under the debris.
