US-Israeli Gaza genocide

Israel’s intensified attacks on the Gaza Strip, especially Gaza City, continue to claim the lives of innocent Palestinians as the regime pushes ahead with its genocidal campaign in the besieged territory. Since dawn, 47 martyrs have been taken to hospitals in the Gaza Strip, mostly from Gaza City. The figure also includes civilians seeking aid near distribution centers. In one of the latest attacks, eight people were killed in Central Gaza’s al-Nuseirat refugee Camp. Many victims of Israeli attacks remain trapped under the rubble and on the streets. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, over 65,500 Palestinians have been killed, with more than 167,500 others injured, since the beginning of the genocidal war in October 2023.

Israel's diplomatic defeat at the UNGA

Facing a chorus of global condemnation, Israel is confronting unprecedented isolation as diplomatic, cultural, and economic pressures mount. This was shown by a mass walkout preceding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address to the United Nations General Assembly. The incident symbolizes a broader international backlash against the war in Gaza, which is now manifesting in official state recognitions of Palestine and widespread boycotts of Tel Aviv.

UNSC vote on snapback delay

The UN Security Council is set to vote on a proposal by Russia and China to delay the looming return of anti-Iran sanctions due to the snapback mechanism triggered by the UK, France, and Germany. The resolution calls for a six-month postponement, aimed at creating space for further diplomatic talks. If the council rejects the proposal, UN sanctions on Tehran will be reinstated. The snapback mechanism was activated last month by the European troika, which accused Iran of violating uranium enrichment limits outlined in the 2015 nuclear deal. Iran has urged the UNSC to act responsibly by supporting diplomacy, justice, and international law. Meanwhile, the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has warned that the snapback would lead to suspension of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency. Ali Larijani stated that Iran has pursued all peaceful mechanisms to resolve the issue. He emphasized that Iran’s policy does not involve pursuing nuclear weapons, a stance the Agency has also confirmed in its reports numerous times.
