Israeli settlers carry out new attacks in occupied West Bank under regime’s protection

Israeli settlers, backed by the regime's forces, carry out new attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank.

Israeli settlers, backed by the regime’s forces, have carried out new attacks against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

On Friday, settlers attacked Khillet al-Dabaa Village in Masafer Yatta in the West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron) in the presence of Israeli forces.

Several Palestinians, including a baby and elderly people, were injured in the raid, with the injuries ranging from fractures to stab wounds.

Anti-settlement activist Osama Makhamra said the settlers vandalized homes during the raid, smashing water tanks and destroying solar panels used to produce electricity.

He urged international organizations and human rights groups to take action to stop the settlers’ assaults in Masafer Yatta.

In Nablus, settlers also assaulted a nursery in the village of Yetma, uprooting trees and inflicting heavy damage on it.

According to local sources, the attack was part of a wider offensive against Yetma and its surrounding villages.

In recent days, settlers have also pressed ahead with carving out a new settlement road that would seize around 500 dunums (50 ha) of land from the village of Deir Abu Mishaal, northwest of Ramallah.

According to Palestinian monitoring groups, settlers carried out 431 attacks across the West Bank in August, most of them in Ramallah, Nablus, and al-Khalil, killing at least two Palestinians.

More than 700,000 settlers live in over 230 settlements built since the 1967 Israeli occupation of the West Bank and East al-Quds.

The international community views the settlements as illegal under international law and the Geneva Conventions due to their construction on occupied territories.

The UN Security Council has condemned Israel’s settlement activities in several resolutions.

Since Israel launched a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, Israeli forces and settlers have intensified their attacks in various parts of the West Bank.
