West Bank annexation plan
Israeli Far-right Finance Minister has unveiled a plan to annex approximately 82 percent of the West Bank to the Israeli occupied territories. Bezalel Smotrich urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to what he called take historic action by applying Israeli sovereignty over what the area. He said the move stems from a broad consensus against the establishment of a Palestinian state within the heart of Israel. Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates has issued a strong warning to Israel, declaring that any annexation of the West Bank would cross a "red line" and threaten the Abraham Accords. The UAE had signed an agreement, officially known as the Abraham Accords Peace Agreement at the White House on September 15, 2020, to normalize ties with the Israeli regime.
Gaza aid flotilla
The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territory says the Gaza‑bound Global Sumud Flotilla is “fully compliant with international law.” Francesca Albanese voiced her support in a message to the crew, warning that any attempt to intercept the vessels could amount to an act of aggression and a breach of the crew’s rights under international maritime law. The flotilla, carrying humanitarian aid and pro‑Palestinian activists set sail from the Spanish port city of Barcelona. Around 20 vessels are taking part in the mission, which aims to establish a humanitarian corridor into Gaza and help end the ongoing Israeli genocide against the Palestinian people.
Russia-Ukraine talks
The Russian president says the door to diplomacy is always open as he confirms that he is willing to meet with the Ukrainian president. Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky has already rejected having a meeting in Moscow. He says the talks have to be held on a natural European ground with EU participation. Meanwhile the US president continues to push for a bilateral meeting between Russian and Ukrainian leaders. He has also called for a trilateral meeting but insisted Russia and Ukraine must meet first to find a lasting solution to the war in Ukraine. The European union also says they support a peace deal but demands there must be security guarantees for Kiev.
