US-Israeli genocide in Gaza
Israeli warplanes continue to target residential areas across the Gaza Strip, killing more civilians. Nearly two dozen Palestinians have been killed since dawn in Israeli strikes across Gaza, including 17 in tents in Asdaa, southern Gaza, and two in a home in the central Maghazi refugee camp. In the north, Israeli forces concentrated attacks on Jabalia and Al-Zaytun neighborhoods, while surrounding civilians in a narrow zone west of Gaza City. Near the so-called Netzarim Corridor, two aid seekers were killed and over 29 injured by gunfire. Two children have also died from starvation in the past 24 hours. The death toll from the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza since October 2023 has now surpassed 62,200, while over 157,300 people have been injured.
Netherlands' Israel sanctions
The Dutch foreign minister has resigned in protest at the government’s refusal to toughen sanctions against Israel for its genocidal war in Gaza. Caspar Veldkamp had previously pushed for a travel ban on some Israeli politicians and demanded Europe end its military and trade agreements with Israel. Last week, the Netherlands, along with 20 other EU countries, jointly denounced Israel’s annexation plan for the occupied West Bank and occupation plan for Gaza City. However, Amsterdam continues to supply Israel with F-35 jet parts, which is being used by the regime in Gaza. International efforts to hold Israel accountable and end the genocide in Gaza has picked up pace after the UN officially declared famine in the besieged territory.
US LATAM interference
The Venezuelan president has denounced the deployment of US military forces in Caribbean waters, calling it an immoral act directed against his country. Maduro made the remarks following the arrival of three US warships near Venezuelan territorial waters. Washington claimed the move is part of a broader initiative to combat drug trafficking. However, Maduro views the move as a direct threat to Venezuela’s national sovereignty. The governments of Cuba, Bolivia, and Nicaragua have also voiced their opposition to the US deployment. The Cuban president says the deployment violates the sovereignty of regional nations and undermines the peace and cooperation that Latin American and Caribbean countries have long strived to uphold.
