US-Israeli Gaza genocide
Israeli forces continue to kill civilians in Gaza, opening fire on hungry Palestinian aid seekers who had gathered near distribution centers across the war-ravaged territory. In one of latest attacks, at least seven Palestinians were killed by direct Israeli fire in central Gaza. The Israeli attack on Kissufim aid distribution center was also deadly with multiple fatalities. According to local sources, over thirty-five aid seekers were killed and hundreds of others injured by direct Israeli fire in the south. The regime also targeted other parts of Gaza with air and artillery strikes, killing scores of people. One of the attacks happened in Gaza City, where Israeli warplanes struck a health center in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood. Several Palestinians were killed in the strike. The US-Israeli genocide, which began in October 2023, has so far killed more than 61,000 Palestinians, leaving over 150,600 others injured.
Israeli crimes in Gaza
UN experts have expressed grave concern over the operations of the US-Israeli Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. They say Palestinians are paying the ultimate price of the international community’s legal, political and moral failure. The experts said Israeli forces and foreign military contractors continue to open indiscriminate fire on hungry Gazans seeking aid at so-called “distribution sites” operated by GHF, since it was set up to replace UN agencies. They noted that nearly 1,400 people have been killed and more than four-thousand injured while seeking food since GHF sites started to operate. The experts said GHF is an utterly disturbing example of how humanitarian relief can be exploited for covert military and geopolitical agendas in serious breach of international law. They stressed that blocking aid is not only inhumane, but also a war crime where it is intended to starve civilians in the context of a globally denounced genocide. The experts urged UN Member States to impose a full arms embargo on Israel due to its multiple violations of international law, and suspend trade and investment agreements with the regime.
Israel onslaught on Gaza
The United Nations has strongly rejected Israel’s plan to fully occupy Gaza, warning that such a move could have catastrophic consequences for millions of Palestinians. Addressing a Security Council meeting, the UN official said under the international law, Israel is obligated to end its unlawful presence in the Palestinian territories as swiftly as possible. He echoed the Secretary-General’s condemnation of the ongoing violence in Gaza, including the shooting, killing, and injuring of civilians attempting to obtain food for their families. He urged Israel to immediately allow the rapid and unimpeded delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid to those in need. The Palestinian UN Ambassador also addressed the meeting. Riyad Mansour condemned Israel’s campaign of massacres and starvation against Palestinians in Gaza, reiterating his call for an immediate ceasefire in the territory.
