Slamming Israel's impunity
The Iranian foreign minister says Israel’s recent act of aggression against his country has dealt a serious blow to diplomacy, the rule of law and the nuclear non-proliferation treaty. Abbas Araghchi described the Israeli attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities as a flagrant violation of the NPT, multiple IAEA resolutions and the UN charter. He added that the aggression is a direct consequence of the absolute impunity the regime has long enjoyed, which has enabled it to commit crimes with no fear of accountability. The top Iranian diplomat was addressing a ministerial meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Beijing. The SCO member states reaffirmed their commitment to upholding Iran’s legitimate right to peaceful nuclear energy. They stressed any solution to Iran’s nuclear issue must not violate its legitimate rights as a member of the IAEA and the NPT, particularly its right to enrichment.
US-Israel Gaza genocide
The Israeli military keeps hammering the Gaza Strip with air and artillery strikes, killing at least 30 Palestinians since dawn. The regime’s warplanes targeted a residential building in the al-Shati refugee camp near Gaza City, killing at least five people and injuring several more. In a separate attack hitting a neighborhood south of Gaza city, all members of a family lost their lives. The US-Israeli genocide, which began in October 2023, has so far killed nearly 58-thousand-500 Palestinians, leaving around 139,400 others injured. The rising death toll comes amid a deteriorating humanitarian situation. According to the United Nations Children’s Fund, more than 5800 children were diagnosed with malnutrition in June.
Israel-Lebanon aggression
Israeli warplanes have intensified their strikes against Lebanon, launching a wave of deadly air raids in the northern Bekaa Valley. Israeli airstrikes have left a dozen people dead in Bekaa region, including seven Syrians near al-Hermel city. The attacks targeted civilian infrastructure marking one of the most dangerous developments in recent days. One of the strikes occurred near a school while students were taking exams. Despite the ceasefire reached last November, the Israeli regime continues its breaches, occupying five strategic sites in southern Lebanon. Air raids have also extended to Beirut’s outskirts and northern cities, causing civilian casualties.
