Hamas says Israel's “cowardly assassination” of Hezbollah leader Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah five months ago has only strengthened the resistance's determination to continue his path in Palestine, Lebanon, and beyond.

Israel assassinated Nasrallah and his deputy and appointed successor Sayyed Hashem Safieddine on September 27, 2024, in an airstrike on Beirut.

Hundreds of thousands of mourners gathered at a stadium in the Lebanese capital on Sunday to mourn the two martyrs in a public funeral.

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas released a statement "on the day of the great farewell" to renew its “heartfelt condolences to the brotherly Lebanese people and to our entire Arab and Islamic nation."

It said that the Israeli regime’s “cowardly assassinations of resistance leaders in Palestine, Lebanon, and everywhere will not halt our blessed path but will only strengthen our determination to continue on the path of our martyred leaders."

Hamas also recalled “the heroic and honorable positions of the martyr Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, his firm and principled adoption of the Palestinian cause, and his insistence on forming a support front with our people in the Gaza Strip."

In separate remarks on Sunday, the secretary general of Hezbollah Sheikh Naim Qassem also hailed Seyeyd Nasrallah for  “reviving the Palestinian cause,” saying that the Lebanese resistance group “will preserve this trust and will continue to tread this path.”
