'Resistance will continue'

The Hamas resistance movement says the assassination of its top commanders by Israel will only make the group stronger and more determined to continue on the path of resistance. The statement came after the spokesman for Hamas’ military wing, Abu Obeida, confirmed the martyrdom of the al-Qassam Brigades’ chief commander, Mohammed Deif, along with several other top commanders. Hamas said there are many men who will continue the path of the martyred commander. It stressed that a movement whose leaders are martyred on the frontline can’t be defeated by any brutal force on earth. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad, for its part, stressed that the martyrdom of leaders strengthens the steadfastness of the resistance, and will force Israel to retreat. The movement reaffirmed its determination to fight alongside Hamas and other resistance factions to thwart Zionist-American schemes targeting the Palestinian cause. Yemen’s Ansarullah movement and the Islamic Resistance in Iraq also voiced their full support for Hamas and the anti-Israeli resistance.

Israel West Bank raids

Tensions are soaring high across the occupied West Bank, where scores of people have been injured in Israeli forces' attacks on people welcoming released Palestinian prisoners. Most of the casualties were caused after the regime’s forces started shooting at Palestinians welcoming prisoners from the Ofer prison in the town of Beitunia, west of Ramallah. The Palestinian Red Crescent said at least 61 people were injured by live bullets. Many others were injured from tear gas inhalation. Two young Palestinians were also shot dead by the Israeli forces in the Jenin refugee camp, as the regime’s aggression against the camp continued for the tenth day in a row. The new fatalities raised the number of Palestinians killed in the camp to 19. Two children were also wounded by Israeli gunfire south of Bethlehem, while a young man was also injured in the al-Ubaidiya town east of Bethlehem. Meanwhile, the Israeli army has reported the death of at least one of its soldiers, along with several other injuries in a resistance ambush in Jenin.

Israel ban on UNRWA

The United Nations has defied Israel's ban on the activities of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees in the occupied territories, which took effect on Thursday. The world body says UNRWA will continue operating in all Palestinian territories despite Israel's decision to cut ties with it. The spokesman for UN Secretary-General António Guterres said UNRWA will continue fulfilling its mandate as long as it’s possible. Stephane Dujarric added that UNRWA clinics across the occupied West Bank, including East al-Quds, remain open, and humanitarian operations in Gaza will also continue. However, he emphasized that UNRWA has taken precautionary measures in its East al-Quds headquarters, removing all the equipment and vehicles. The decision by Israel to end UNRWA operations came after the regime falsely accused its employees of working for Palestinian resistance groups. Later investigations refuted the regime’s claims. Israel itself was not able to provide evidence that a significant number of UNRWA staff are affiliated with resistance groups. UNRWA has been the UN’s lead agency for coordinating aid delivery to Gaza during Israel’s genocide in the besieged territory.
