Palestinian abductees released

Israel has released ninety Palestinian abductees as part of the first phase of a Gaza ceasefire deal with the Hamas resistance movement. All the Palestinian abductees were freed from Ofer Prison in the occupied West Bank. They were carried by bus to the West Bank town of Beitunia and the city of Ramallah. Hundreds of Palestinians hit the streets of Beitunia and Ramallah in jubilation, waving Palestinian flags and chanting slogans to express their joy. They also carried flags of several resistance movements, including Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Freed female prisoners could be seen smiling and flashing V-signs inside the buses. Israel is expected to release 737 Palestinian abductees over the first phase of the deal, in exchange for 33 Israeli captives.

Hamas victory speech

The military wing of the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, says it will be committed to a ceasefire in Gaza as long as Israel does the same. The spokesman for the al-Qassam Brigades made the remarks a few hours after the ceasefire deal was implemented. Abu Obeida said the victory of Palestinians against the Israeli regime will be an example of standing against the oppressors throughout history. He added that Hamas was fighting an unbalanced war that seemed impossible to win but came out victorious. Abu Obeida also saluted all the free people of the world that supported the resistance, as well as governments such as the Islamic republic of Iran and Yemen.

Israel war on media

A new report by Palestinian officials says Israel has killed more than 190 journalists in the Gaza Strip during 2024. According to the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate, 86 journalists were also injured by Israeli forces’ live ammunition and rocket shrapnel. The syndicate said all the wounded journalists were potential targets, as the number of killed journalists surpasses that of the injured. The report also highlighted other Israeli crimes committed against journalists last year. It said there were 64 cases of detentions by the regime’s forces in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, as well as destruction of over 50 media institutions. The syndicate stressed that Palestinian journalists remain resilient despite the violence perpetrated against them.
