Israel violates Gaza ceasefire

Relentless air and artillery strikes continue to pound Gaza despite the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas. In one of the deadliest attacks, at least five people were killed and about 20 others injuried after Israeli warplanes bombed al-Shuja'iyya neighborhood, east of Gaza City. Several people were also killed after the Israeli military struck the al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City. Israeli strikes on Gaza’s northern areas, including Beit Lahia and Beit Hanoun were also deadly with several Palestinians losing their lives as a result of the attack.

'Israeli's biggest defeat'

The commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps says the Gaza ceasefire is the biggest defeat for Israel in its "miserable history". Brigadier General Esmail Qa’ani says Israel was forced to accept the ceasefire after 15 months of unbridled crimes against the people in Lebanon and Gaza. He said Israel was utterly disgraced. Qa’ani explained that this is the same ceasefire agreement that was proposed in the previous round of negotiations but Israel rejected. He said the regime, however, was forced to accept the terms set out by the resistance this time around.

Anti-Trump protest

Thousands of demonstrators have rallied in the US capital city of Washington DC to protest Donald Trump’s policies ahead of his second term as president. The "People's March," which was organized by civil rights and social justice groups, drew demonstrators from across the nation. Participants highlighted a range of issues, including immigrants’ rights, climate change, women’s rights and gun violence. They converged near the Lincoln Memorial, carrying colorful signs and chanting slogans such as “we won’t back down” and “we rise, we resist, we march.” Demonstrators expressed fear of Trump's plans and policies, with first-time protesters and veterans alike saying they were afraid of what might happen during his second term. Similar marches were planned nationwide, including in New York City. Trump, who is returning to the White House for a second term, has vowed swift action to deport millions of undocumented migrants upon taking office.
