DRC sues Apple over blood minerals

The ongoing conflict in mineral-rich regions of the Democratic Republic of Congo, characterized by targeted and indiscriminate violence, has resulted in over six million deaths since 1998. Why are Western multinationals such as Apple involved in the smuggling of minerals from Congo amid the genocide in this country?
