Gaza health officials warn of a severe shortage of medical supplies and medicines amid Israel’s inhumane blockade on humanitarian aid into the populated coastal territory.

Health official Wael al-Sheikh said Sunday that Gaza’s Health Ministry has completely run out of about 20 cancer medicines.

“Stocks of 120 medicines, including 20 cancer treatments, are completely depleted in the ministry’s warehouses.”

Healthcare in Gaza has been pushed to the brink of collapse under relentless attacks by Israeli forces on hospitals and health facilities.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), only 16 of the region’s 36 hospitals remain partially operational. About 25 percent of the 105,000 injured civilians now face life-changing injuries in Gaza.

WHO representative for the West Bank and Gaza Rik Peeperkorn warned that “the health sector is being systematically dismantled” in Gaza.

On Saturday, one of the key hospitals in northern Gaza – the Indonesian Hospital – was taken out of service due to Israeli attacks.

Kamal Adwan Hospital, North Gaza's main healthcare facility, was also set on fire after being forcefully evacuated on December 28.
