Israeli commander exposed troops to resistance fire to steal plasma screens

(File) Israeli forces are seen in the streets in Gaza.

An Israeli military commander's desire to steal plasma screens from a house in Gaza exposed his forces to resistance fighters and resulted in the death of one soldier, an investigation has found.

An internal military investigation said Colonel Ami Biton had forced his soldiers to leave the house they were hiding in and search for another location during daylight hours. The commander, it said, had intended to steal the screens.

One soldier was killed and the others were wounded when Palestinian resistance fighters opened fire on them.

Later that evening, the commander attempted to cover up the incident by fabricating a story that the soldiers had been on an offensive mission.

According to a report previously published by Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, the Israeli regime has ordered its soldiers to not only kill, but to engage in immoral activities such as property theft and looting in Gaza.

The rights group reported on a number of cases that show Israeli forces participating in and witnessing the deliberate theft of the assets and money of Palestinian people, including laptop computers, gold, and large quantities of cash.

According to the report, Israeli military may have looted valuable possessions worth tens of millions of dollars, in addition to stealing personal belongings from Palestinian people.
