Iran’s exports of mining and metals products reached $8.8 billion in the eight calendar months to November 20.
Figures released on Saturday by state-run IMIDRO showed that Iran exported nearly 42 million metric tons (mt) of metals and mining products between April and November.
IMIDRO said that in the eight months to late November, shipments rose by 3% in value terms and by 2% in volume terms compared to the same period last year.
Steel, aluminum, and copper accounted for nearly 77% of Iran’s total mining and metals exports, the company said, adding that exports of the three metals had generated some $6.767 billion worth of revenues for the country in the April-November period.
The slight increase in the Iranian metals and mining exports comes as Iran has seen a decline in its steel production and exports this year because of restrictions on the supply of electricity to the industries in the country.
Figures released earlier this week by the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA) showed that Iran had produced some 14.853 million mt of steel products in April-November, down 0.3% compared to the same period last year.
They showed that Iran’s production of semi-finished steel had also dropped by 4.3% year on year in the eight months to November 20.
IMIDRO figures showed that imports of mining and metals products into Iran had risen by 78% in value terms in the eight months to late November compared to the same period in 2023 to reach a total of $ 7.496 billion.
Imports fell by 19% in volume terms over the same period to reach nearly 2.894 million mt, the data showed.
