A senior Palestinian official says Israel is desperately trying to “ethnically cleanse” the whole population of Gaza City.

“[It’s] trying to force hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to evict their city and their homes,” Mustafa Barghouti, the head of the Palestinian National Initiative party, said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Netanyahu[‘s] fascist government never departed from its original goal of ethnic cleansing of the whole population of Gaza Strip.”

Israel on Wednesday ordered all Gaza City residents to evacuate and head towards the city of Deir al-Balah. The military dropped leaflets calling on residents to leave Gaza City immediately.

Israel, flouting a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire, faces international condemnation amid its barbarous campaign in Gaza.

Although the regime designated Deir al-Balah and Zawaida as safe zones, the military continued to attack the areas.

Over the past 10 days, Israel has issued instructions for hundreds of thousands of people in Khan Younis in the south, Shujaya in central Gaza and the several neighborhoods of Gaza City to leave. The effect has been to increase the total number of the displaced from 1.7 million in May to an estimated 1.9 million now, according to the UN.

Last week, a UN official confirmed that about 90% of Gaza’s population has been displaced since October.

Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said in a news conference with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry that Israel’s order for residents of Gaza City to evacuate is a "red line for Jordan and Egypt." He said both countries will strongly oppose the displacement of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

And the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas says Israel's latest deadly attack on a school in Khan Yunis is intentional genocide and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.
