‘US complicity in Israeli crimes’
The Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution says the incidents unraveling in the Gaza Strip exposed the blood-thirsty nature of Israel as an entity that has its roots in the Western civilization. Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said the epoch-making impact is now reflected in non-Muslim countries and universities in the US. The Leader was referring to the protests across the world in support of Palestinians and in condemnation of the Israeli onslaught on Gaza. Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that, without the US’s help, Israel would not dare to commit such atrocities. The Leader further underlined that one cannot treat the murderer Israel and its supporters in the US softly, citing the Quranic tradition of repudiation of oppressive enemies. Ayatollah Khamenei, who was speaking in a meeting with officials in charge of Hajj, called for a similar disavowal of enemies by all Muslims during this year’s Hajj pilgrimage.
Hamas warning IOF
The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has warned that any operation against Rafah will not be picnic for Israeli forces. The resistance movement announced its fighters are fully prepared to defend the people in Rafah against an Israeli aggression on the city. The Palestinian resistance movement called on international bodies to take urgent action to stop a planned incursion that threatens the lives of displaced civilians seeking shelter in Rafah. Hamas has also urged humanitarian organizations not to leave the city. The Israeli regime has ordered 100,000 Palestinians to evacuate the eastern part of Rafah, raising fears for an anticipated attack. The city, previously announced to be a safe zone, is now shelter to more than one million residents and displaced Palestinians.
Anti-Israel protests worldwide
British students at Oxford and Cambridge universities have joined their American peers in setting up pro-Palestine encampments and calling for an academic boycott of the Israeli regime. The students say their camps will remain open for an unknown number of days. They want the university to divest from all holdings and entities that support the Israeli occupation, apartheid, and genocide in Gaza. They also demand that Oxford University commit to a Palestinian-led rebuilding of Gaza’s higher education sector. Meantime in Italy, dozens of students have set up tents at Bolognia University. In Ireland, protesters have gathered on the grounds of Trinity College to support Palestine. Similar protests have also been held in France and Canada, among other countries. This, following a huge wave of pro-Palestine protests at US colleges where Police forces have arrested more than 2,000 protesters.
