Israel onslaught on Gaza

There’s no end in sight to the Israeli bloodshed in the Gaza Strip as the regime’s genocidal war on the besieged territory enters its 34th day. Israeli warplanes have once again struck the vicinity of Gaza’s largest hospital. People ran for cover after missiles exploded near al-Shifa Hospital and resulted in shrapnel damage to its surroundings. The hospital has been targeted several times before. The UN agency for Palestinian refugees and the World Health Organization have described the condition as “disastrous”, as the hospital is overflowed with injured and hundreds of displaced Palestinians. Israeli strikes and shelling have been indiscriminately targeting medical facilities, schools and refugee camps. At least 25 people are killed in fresh attacks on the Jabalia camp and in Khan Yunis. More than ten-thousand-five-hundred Palestinians, mostly women and children have been killed since Israel launched its war on Gaza. Meanwhile, the military wing of the Hamas resistance movement said it inflicted heavy casualties on infiltrating Israeli forces in Gaza.

Israeli nuclear threat

Palestinians have filed a formal complaint with the International Atomic Energy Agency against the Israeli regime over its minister’s threat to nuke the Gaza Strip. Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad al-Maliki, in an official letter to the IAEA chief, has stated that the threat entails "an official recognition" that Israel possesses nuclear weapons. The letter says the nuclear threat is completely consistent with the prevailing discourse in Israel against the Palestinians. The Israeli minister’s call for using nuclear weapons against Palestinians had drawn international condemnations. Iran urged the UN and the IAEA to take actions to disarm the barbaric regime. Russia also condemned the threat, saying Israel appears to have admitted that it has nukes. Israel does not publicly acknowledge its nuclear arsenal NOR does it allow international inspection of its nuclear facilities. But the regime is believed to possess some 400 nuclear warheads.

2023 ECO summit

Iran’s President Ebrahim Raeisi has arrived in Uzbekistan to attend a leadership summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization. Raeisi was received by Uzbekistan’s prime minister upon arrival in Tashkent. During his day-long visit, Iran’s president is expected to meet other ECO leaders. The summit is attended by several heads of state, including presidents of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Turkey among others. Raiesi embarked on the Central Asian tour on Wednesday and first landed in Dushanbe upon an official invitation from his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon. Iran’s president and the accompanying delegation held meetings with Tajikistan’s officials and signed a number of cooperation documents.
