Iran foreign policy

Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution has called for efforts by officials to foil hostile plots being hatched by the enemy to create tensions between Iran and its neighbors. Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with foreign ministry officials, ambassadors and heads of Iranian diplomatic missions abroad. He described as important Iran’s relations with the neighboring countries, adding foreign hands are active in creating problems between the Islamic Republic and its neighbors. The leader also touched on the characteristics of a successful foreign policy, saying diplomats should observe the three principles of dignity, wisdom and expediency. Ayatollah Khamenei said the current world order is undergoing transformation. He called on officials to monitor global developments vigilantly and work to ensure Iran achieves a proper status as the new world order takes shapes.

G7 China warning

The leaders of the group of seven developed countries or G7 have warned China over its military and economic activities. In a final communique issued at a summit in the Japanese city of Hiroshima, the bloc voiced concern over what it called China's militarization in the Asia-Pacific region. It reiterated that peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait is indispensable for global security. The G7 leaders also expressed misgivings about Beijing’s economic measures, noting that they would untangle sensitive supply chains from Chinese influence. However, they called for constructive and stable relations with China. They said their policies are not aimed at harming China, nor did they seek to thwart China's economic progress and development.

Russia warning to west

The Ukrainian President is now in Hiroshima to join talks between the leaders of the group of seven major economies. Volodymyr Zelensky landed in the Japanese city hours after the United States gave G7 members the go-ahead to provide Ukraine with advanced American fighter jets. The permission comes as Zelensky has long been seeking Washington’s support for Ukraine’s access to American warplanes. According to the White House, President Joe Biden told the G7 leaders that the US would support joint allied training programs for Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets. The US was first opposed to sending the warplanes to Ukraine due to its high costs and long pilot training. Russia has reacted to the new US move, warning that western countries would suffer "colossal risks if they offer the warplanes to Ukraine." Moscow has, time and again, cautioned the West against pumping weapons into Ukraine, saying it only prolongs the conflict.
