Response to Saudi aggression

The Yemeni army says it has launched a major drone and ballistic missile attack on Saudi Arabia. The Saudi defense ministry has confirmed the Yemeni attack on an oil products distribution station in Jizan. The ministry said it will take action to protect its oil exports. The latest attacks by the Yemeni army come on the sixth anniversary of the Saudi invasion of the country. The Yemeni army, backed by Ansarullah forces, has conducted similar attacks in the past. They say they are in retaliation for Riyadh’s war that has so far claimed tens of thousands of lives in Yemen.

Germany third coronavirus wave

Germany's top health official says there are clear signals that the country's third wave of the coronavirus could be worse than the first two. The health official also warned that the number of new infections could rise to 100,000 in a day if the spread of the virus is not curbed. Wieler urged people to stay at home over Easter, warning that Germany will have very difficult weeks ahead. During a press conference, Health Minister Yens Spahn also warned that the health system could reach its limit in April. The number of new confirmed infections in Germany has jumped in recent weeks. The country has registered more than 75,000 deaths out of over two-point-seven million infections.

Egypt train collision

A train crash in southern Egypt has left more than 30 people dead and scores more injured. The incident took place when two passenger trains collided in the city of Sohag. Railway authorities say emergency brakes were triggered by unknown individuals and caused the first train to stop while the other one hit it from behind. A couple of carriages derailed above a channel of water. According to the health ministry, 32 people have been killed and 91 injured. President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi mourned the victims and pledged to punish those responsible. The Northeastern African country has been plagued with deadly train accidents that have been widely blamed on inadequate infrastructure and poor maintenance.
