EU desperate for Biden presidency

As European officials congratulate President elect Joe Biden, a closer look at their statements reveal genuine scorn for the outgoing administration. So while Trump fights to stay in power, Europe will be rooting for lasting change desperate to avoid four more years of Donald Trump.

If there was ever any doubt who the EU wanted as the next President of the United states, that doubt has quickly been quashed over the last few days. As European leaders congratulated president elect Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris, some of the most senior leaders added thinly veiled remarks aimed directly at the Trump administration.

Earlier European commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen said the international system had been held hostage and it was now time to reverse the trend. Such statements will not have gone unnoticed in Washington. Trump’s America First policy undermined years of diplomacy. Efforts to draw a line and move beyond Trump’s administration will also be noted by judges and legislatures up and down the United States as they assess lawsuits of alleged voter fraud.

So far Judges in six states have thrown out 13 cases refusing to hear even a single one. But for many this is not a futile endeavor. Analysts believe the Trump campaign is attempting to clog the system and delay efforts to certify results. According to the constitution, election totals only become official once states certify them. Electors are selected to complete the process. if this process is delayed then Legislators step in. Judges loyal to the Republican party could then technically overturn results.

It’s an unlikely scenario but Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also alluded to it when he indicated a smooth transition to a second Trump administration.

As Europe watches on, the Trump administration is using every tool to undermine the election process. Millions have been offered to anyone who comes forward with evidence of Voter fraud. Trump has also fired the defense secretary, and appointed Kashyap Patel, a key Republican ally. He has also replaced the heads of intelligence and policy inside the Pentagon as well as the general counsel to the NSA. A further move to fire the FBI director was also reportedly under consideration.

In any other country this would be described as preparing the foundations for a coup. Organizers are also planning a huge pro-Trump rally in Washington this weekend. A million trump supporters are expected to hit the streets. Authorities will be watching on and so will the European union. if they favored a Biden presidency before, they will now be desperate that their man prevails.
