Iran’s first mobile air traffic control tower was unveiled in a ceremony with the defence minister Brigadier general Amir Hatami and the minister of road and urban development Mohammad Eslami in attendance.
The air control tower has been developed and manufactured by Iran Electronics Industries (known as SAIRAN), which is a state-owned subsidiary of the Defense Ministry.
The manufacture of the mobile air control tower took only one year to complete. This project has already saved the country millions of dollars.
The new achievement is equipped with domestically-built tools, including air control radio, telephone and radio recording systems, radio switching systems, and network synchronization systems.
This mobile system has been specifically designed for rapid and simple deployment for use in emergency operations where there is a need to establish safe air traffic control in remote locations.
The integrated systems provide the same level of air traffic control as a conventional tower but with flexibility of mobility and use at any location at much less capital cost.
The only mobile flight control tower in the country, purchased from a Canadian company several years ago, is worn out and does not have the necessary efficiency for critical or special conditions.
The home-made mobile air control tower will help the country show a quicker response to different emergencies, including natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods, across the country.
