Drone footage shows Los Angeles' Hollywood Walk of Fame almost completely empty

A poster of the Walt Disney Studios' "Mulan" movie, which was going to be released on March 27, towers over an empty Hollywood Boulevard during the global outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, U.S., March 31, 2020.

Drone footage showed Los Angeles' storied Hollywood Walk of Fame almost completely empty on Tuesday (March 31) as the city remained on lockdown in a bid to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

Hollywood Boulevard, usually bustling with all walks of life, was deserted as cinemas, restaurants and shopping malls kept their doors closed to the public in compliance with a state-wide stay-at-home order.

There was also nobody to be seen outside of Hollywood's Dolby Theatre, home of the Oscars and normally teeming with hundreds of tourists.

The unprecedented statewide restrictions, which impact millions of Californians, order most workplaces to close and require residents to remain inside except for trips to grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations and other "essential businesses."

More than 3700 people have died from COVID-19 in the United States during the outbreak, more than the number who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

White House medical experts have said between 100,000 to 200,000 people could ultimately die from the respiratory disease in the United States this year, despite orders in most major cities confining Americans to their homes except for the most necessary outings.
