Like many other sporting events, Giro d'Italia has also been postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The first Grand Tour of the cycling season was scheduled to start on May the 9th in Hungary, with the opening time trial set to be held in the capital Budapesht.

The race however was postponed in a bid to contain the spread of the Coronavirus.

No revised start date or location for the race has been announced, with a decision not expected before April the third.

This is while the death toll in Italy from the Coronavirus has passed the 1,000 mark.
