US-Israeli genocide in Gaza
Over 50 Palestinians are killed in the latest Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip as the regime presses ahead with its genocidal war. Most of the casualties are coming from attacks on northern Gaza, where the Israeli military issued evacuation orders earlier. Israeli warplanes bombed residential buildings in Jabalia refugee camp, leaving three people dead and over a dozen wounded. Israeli troops have ordered the evacuation of al-Awda Hospital, the last functioning hospital in northern Gaza. The total number of Palestinians killed in Gaza in the genocidal war since October 2023 has surged to over 54,320.
Israel Gaza blockade
A Palestinian has been killed and twenty more injured after Israeli forces fired at an aid distribution center in southern Gaza. According to reports, the victims were trying to reach a US-run aid distribution center to get humanitarian packages near the Netzerim corridor. This was after similar attacks on Tuesday and Wednesday that left 10 Palestinians dead. The US-backed aid plan has been widely criticized for its unfair and inadequate distribution system. The UN humanitarian agency OCHA says Gaza is the hungriest place on earth, and Israel’s restrictions on humanitarian assistance have only exacerbated the crisis.
Slamming settlement expansion
Spain and Finland have strongly condemned Israel’s recent approval of new settlements in the occupied West Bank, saying the move violates international law. Madrid called the recent move a threat to peace and expressed concern over Israel’s intensified military operations in the West Bank. Spain said peace in the region requires the realization of a sovereign Palestinian state. Also, Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen said settlement expansion contradicts international efforts to advance peace. On Thursday, Tel Aviv announced the construction of 22 new settlements and the re-establishment of two dismantled outposts in the occupied West Bank. Israel’s minister for military affairs says the move is a clear message to France and others who attempt to recognize a Palestinian state. Israel Katz says, in response to those efforts, the regime will build a “Jewish Israeli state” here on the ground.
