In the wake of the London Bridge terror attack the government have announced plans to introduce lie detector tests in what they say is a measure to ensure those who have offended reform. The move however has been met with a backlash from those who say the move is flawed and spells trouble
In addition another major concern is that the tests will be used to disproportionately used to target the wrong people
Whether or not the measure is implemented, experts claim that the move is simply a ploy from the Home Office to garner grassroots populist support
regardless of whether the plans are implemented many will view the plans as another example of the government trying to be tough on crime without tackling the causes
The government's plan to introduce lie detector tests is ultimately problematic, with many viewing the move as a cynical tactic to grab headlines from an increasingly right wing government.
