Soldiers paraded in Yarze on Friday, where the festivities on the 76th Lebanese Independence Day anniversary had been relocated from Beirut, which continues to be gripped by mass protests.

Footage shows Lebanese President Michel Aoun, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, and former Prime Minister Saad Hariri, saluting the troops and overseeing the parade.

Aoun was also filmed laying a wreath at a monument.

Lebanon has been gripped by mass protests, which are believed to be the country's largest since 2015, as protesters have taken to the streets to voice their discontent with deteriorating living conditions, austerity measures, capital flight and the rise of the deficit and public debt.
