Protesters braved subfreezing temperatures in Minneapolis on Friday to rally against US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), joining what organizers billed as an “ICE OUT!” day of action.
Demonstrators marched through the city chanting and beating drums, saying the protest was part of a broader push that included business closures and walkouts across Minnesota, which some participants described as a general strike.
Speakers at an event after the rally accused the administration of using immigration enforcement to intimidate communities. American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten said families were fearful of sending children to school, calling the policy approach "about intimidation" rather than law enforcement.
