Latin America's political history has been plagued with US interference from as far back 1823 with the US decreed Monroe doctrine which declared it be under their influence because it was quote in their 'backyard' to the present day where the US is accused of sponsoring coups and regime-change operations throughout the region.
For many people in Latin America, there is one man who is perceived as the chief accomplice for the US in the region and that man is Luis Almagro the Secretary-General of the Organization of American States.
Almagro was in London on Tuesday evening speaking at the Senate-House and there were clashes between rival right-wing and left-wing groups inside and outside the speaking hall.
Since entering office Luis Almagro has supported military intervention in Venezuela and continues to support US sanctions on Cuba and Venezuela so it's hardly surprising that there were people from those nations outside protesting his visit.
