Police used tear gas against student demonstrators in central Athens on Thursday after they were charged at during a protest.
The demonstration started in response to reforms concerning the educational system and the overturning of a law in the summer that had made universities largely a no-go zone for police.
Footage showed protesters using their flags as weapons to beat police, who responded by firing tear gas and using batons against them.
Thursday's protest saw students hanging banners on police buses, and throwing objects near the parliament. One banner read 'The people united will never be defeated'.
