Over cycling news, Colombia's Nairo Quintana has soloed to the finish line of the 2nd stage of the 2019 La Vuelta Spain, while Nicolas Roche topped the GC.
The race split after a fierce battle in the last climb of the day with more than 20km to go; where an elite group of six men formed the breakaway bunch. With 3km remaining, Quintana disrupted the idea of a bunch sprint to the finish line when he launched a well-timed attack to claim his second Grand Tour stage win of the season.
Irishman Roche, and Slovenian Primoz Roglic respectively trailed the Movistar cyclist by 5 seconds. That’s while Roche leads the General Classification, 2 seconds ahead of Quintana, and a further 6 seconds faster than Rigoberto Uran. Stage 3 will be a 188 km route from Ibi to Alicante.
