Objectives of Shari’a for handling contemporary challenges

Saad Tasleem studied Art History, Modern Art, Graphic Design, and Psychology at the University of Maryland. He started his Islamic education at IIASA in Fairfax, VA. He then went on to study in the Islamic University of Madinah where he dedicated himself to the study of Islamic Sciences. He is an instructor at AlMaghrib Institute.

This episode is a brief section of Saad Tasleem’s speech at the Muslim American Society and the Islamic Circle of North America 16th Annual Convention in Chicago. Objectives of the Islamic Shari’a involve approaching Islam based on guidelines set forth by Allah’s guidance. Understanding these objectives allows us to handle contemporary daily life challenges, bringing truth to the Arabic proverb: Islam is fit for all times and places.

Saad Tasleem puts that Islam is not just our appearances, people should not focus on someone look or sound if he or she is a Muslim or not and judging people if they are good or bad Muslims. Islam should not be taken simply as our dress or cultural ideas.

These elements will change time to time. But Islam is based on high standard of morals and principles and understanding of religion. With knowledge and understanding of knowledge and wisdom Islam can be applied in every time and in every place.
