SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft took off on its first test mission from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Saturday, March 2.
The unmanned SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule, which is en route to the International Space Station, launched atop a Falcon 9 rocket at 02:49 am local time (07:49 GMT).
The mission is aimed at providing data to assess whether the capsule is ready to carry humans, ending NASA's reliance on Russia for taking astronauts into orbit.
