Sanction policy against Iran sign of US weakness: Analyst

Washington's sanction policy against Iran can be translated into the United States’ weakness in dealing with the Islamic Republic, says a commentator.

Jan Oberg, founder of transnational.live, told Press TV on Wednesday that the policy of sanctions against Iran, threats against Iran and saber-rattling against Iran is a sign of weakness of the United States.

The analyst said the United States of America "is an empire on its way down, but before it is really going down and we get a new better world, cooperative world and multipolar world, a lot of harm can be still done" by the US foreign policy.

“The United States’ contribution to the world today is net negative and you cannot fight the world politically, economically and militarily all the time,” Oberg said.

The current US administration has targeted 700 individuals, banks, aircraft, ships and companies tied to Iran’s energy and financial industries. The sanctions came six months after Washington scrapped the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), despite international objections.
