Al-Sadd of Qatar secured their spot in the AFC Champions League semi-finals following a 2-all draw against Iran’s Esteghlal that gave them an aggregate win.
The hosts who won the first leg 3-1 in Iran found the opener in 27th minute when Akram Afif lashed in an unstoppable shot past Esteghlal keeper.
The Iranians equalized 5 minutes later through Rouhollah Bagheri. After the break, Esteghlal went on the attack with added vigor and took the lead in the 49th minute when Morteza Tabrizi headed in from the corner.
But the Qataris restored the parity in the 90th minute when Baghdad Bounedjah converted from the spot. Al-Sadd progressed 5-3 on aggregate and will next face Persepolis of Iran.
