US marines have held eight days of unprecedented military exercises with a group of militants in Syria.
The militant group involved in the drills was the Maghawir al Thawra, which is one of the groups of the so-called Free Syrian Army supported by the US and its allies. The drills were conducted at the U.S. military outpost in Tanf, located 24 km to the west from the al-Tanf border crossing between Syria and Iraq in Homs Governorate. The US set up Tanf military base back in 2016 to train anti-Damascus militants.
