Iranian taekwondo practitioners from the Islamic Azad University (IAU) outfit have exhibited impressive displays of physical strength and agility during the 8th edition of Asian Taekwondo Club Championships G1, and finished as the champion of the continental sporting event.
The IAU team proudly stood on the top podium at the multi-purpose Enghelab Sports Complex in Karaj, situated 35 kilometers west of the Iranian capital Tehran, on Tuesday evening, having scooped four gold, two silver and one bronze medals. The Iranian sportsmen had garnered 65 points.
Iran’s Moghavemat landed in the second place after collecting three gold, one silver and one bronze medals besides 50 points.
Shahrdari Varamin taekwondo club, also from Iran, came third with one gold, three silver and two bronze medals. They had accumulated 42 points.
The 8th edition of Asian Taekwondo Club Championships started on April 23, 2018 and finished the following day.
The continental meet brought together Islamic Azad University, Sahrdari Varamin and Moghavemat clubs from Iran, India’s Police and Iraqi al-Basra clubs, Pakistan A and B as well as Afghanistan taekwondo teams.
