LAND DAY march

People holding Land Day rallies in the besieged Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank. The annual occasion marks the killing of several Palestinians by Israeli troops on March 30, 1976. As expected, the rallies have turned violent after Israeli troops opened fire on unarmed demonstrators who have gathered along the Gaza border with Israel. A number of Palestinians have been killed in the protests which will run until Friday. This year’s demonstrations are different from previous ones in that Palestinians are now angry at Israel's major supporter the US over Washington’s recognition of Jerusalem al-Quds as the Israeli regime’s capital. Since US President Donald trump announced on December 6 that he would relocate the American embassy from Tel Aviv to al-Quds, Palestinian territories have been the scene of protests on a daily basis.

MBS meets AIPAC, anti-BDS leaders

The widely-known secret is now official: Leaked documents have revealed that Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman has met with pro-Israeli lobby groups in the US. The groups include The American Israel Public Affairs Committee or AIPAC, Stand Up for Israel- Anti Defamation League and the Jewish Federations of North America. The groups have spent millions of dollars on Israel’s illegal settlements on occupied Palestinian lands. JFNA, for example, spent nearly 6 million dollars on the settlements between 2012 and 2015. The group also supports Jewish families who have committed violence against Palestinians. The three organizations are vocal opponents of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement or the BDS. The movement is a peaceful global campaign to isolate Israel until the regime meets its obligations under international law.
