The Israeli minister for military affairs has decided to seal off the West Bank and the Gaza Strip for eleven days, exceeding the period of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot. Palestinians say Israel doesn’t need any excuses to introduce more collective punishment practices. Tel Aviv claims the closure is meant to maintain order during the occasion. Palestinians, however, say the measure is aimed at further isolating them and making life harder for them.
