On March 16, 1988, Iraq’s former Ba’athist regime dispatches 50 planes and bombers into the sky of Halabja, each containing 4,500-kilogram chemical bombs. A few minutes later, Halabja’s sky is covered with yellowish clouds, and before long about 5,000 people die. Omar Khawar and his new born son, whose photo will remain as a symbol of this brutal attack, are only two of the 5,000 victims.
