These are some of the headlines we are tracking for you in this episode of On the News Line:

India Border Deployment

India has reportedly deployed around 100 tanks to the northern region of Ladakh along its border with China. Indian military officials have cited a surge in China’s military presence on its side of the border as the reason behind the deployment.

This marks the third deployment by the Indian army to the region since 2014. Let’s not forget that a border conflict in 1962 was followed by an all-out Sino-Indian war. Earlier this month, the Indian navy dispatched three ships to the South China Sea, where parts of it are claimed by several countries including Malaysia.

Saudi Arabia's New Game

Last Friday, the US government released the secret 28 pages of a 2002 congressional report that detail possible links between the Saudi government and the 9-11 hijackers. Following the release of the 28 pages, the Saudi-funded lobbyists and media outlets have been relentlessly trumpeting the notion that the disclosure shows the Saudi government played no role in the deadly attacks. This is while the declassified pages do not totally rule out ties between the terrorists and Riyadh, a fact which has been known worldwide as of the fateful day is that 15 of the 19 hijackers involved in 9/11 were Saudi citizens.

Munich Shooting Rampage

A sense of insecurity appears to have gripped Europe like no other time before. The shock from Nice's rampage was still fresh, when a new tragedy struck. This time in Munich. The shooting there that left several killed - most of them teenage asylum seekers - has raised alarms over the spread of a much-feared form of violence: racism against foreigners. The German police say the Munich assailant had his own source of inspiration. The infamous Norwegian far-right mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik. German police have ruled out any links between the shooting in Munich and the Daesh terrorist group. Chances are high that Europe will soon see an increase in anti-refugee - and eventually anti-Islam - sentiment.
