- The Bahraini regime has stripped the country’s top Shia cleric Ayatollah Issa Qassem of his citizenship. Sheikh Qassem has been a supporter of reforms in Bahrain. The Persian Gulf Arab country has been under fire for stepping up its crackdown against opposition leaders.
- Lebanon’s resistance movement Hezbollah has condemned the ruling Al Khalifah regime for stripping the nationality of top Bahraini Shia cleric Ayatollah Issa Qassem. Hezbollah says the decision would push the Bahraini people to difficult choices with severe consequence for the regime.

- Iran’s Intelligence Ministry says it has foiled several bomb attack plots. Officials say Takfiri terrorists intended to carry out their attacks in Tehran and other cities during the fasting month of Ramadan. A number of bombs and other explosives have also been confiscated from them.
- Croatian lawmakers have voted to dissolve the parliament. Last week, the parliament ousted the government following a no-confidence vote. Croatians will vote in a snap election in early September. The newest member of the European Union has witnessed weeks of political deadlock.
- Tunisia has extended by one month a state of emergency in place since last November. The measure was introduced following a series of terrorist attacks back then. The North African Nation has witnessed a wave of terrorist incidents since the 2011 popular revolution.
- Flash floods have killed nearly 50 people in central Indonesia. Landslides have also demolished hundreds of homes and displaced thousands of people. Dozens of villagers are still missing. The severe weather condition has been blamed on a strong El Nino weather pattern.
