Floating water in Netherlands.

We all want our cities to be green, but sometimes it is hard to grow trees in the concrete environment. Now a Dutch artist has come up with the idea of planting trees on water.

The trees have been planted in old sea buoys and will eventually grow into a fully-fledged floating forest in Rotterdam.

Dubbed the Bobbing Forest, the 20 young trees are part of an art project to mark the National Trees’ Day in the Netherlands.

The group behind this project hopes that it will make Rotterdam residents interested in art and provoke reflection about the future of the city.

The Bobbing Forest is supposed to last a minimum period of 5 years and a maximum of 10 years and it will bring art and nature closer to the people of Rotterdam during the time.

Many believe the project is an initiative that could question and alternate the relationship between human and nature.
