Ralph Schoenman: Palestinian resistance against Israel must be generalized

Press TV has conducted an interview with Ralph Schoenman, author of the Hidden History of Zionism, from Berkeley, California, on the recent tensions in the occupied Palestinian territories.

On August 26, the Tel Aviv regime imposed sweeping restrictions on Palestinian entries into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds (Jerusalem).

That and repeated attacks on the mosque by extremist Israeli settlers triggered the recent wave of clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinians.

Schoenman pointed to the media coverage of the events in the region, sating, “You have to understand that from the perspective of those media, whether in the United States, or in Israel or in Europe or wherever, that have always defended and covered up the Israeli repression at the Palestinian people, any resistance on the part of the Palestinian people is used as a justification for further repression.”

“What is at work here,” the analyst argues, “is the consequence of decade upon decade of brutalization and subjugation of a population.”

Another Palestinian teenager was shot dead on Wednesday at the Damascus Gate at the entrance of the Old City in East al-Quds after an alleged attack on Israelis.

The killing of the Palestinian teenager brought to 31 the total number of Palestinians killed in clashes with Israelis since October 1.

“The children are targeted, the adults are targeted in their homes… There will be no end to this until the resistance of the Palestinian people is generalized and the populations of the countries surrounding rise in support of the Palestinian people,” the American author stated.
